Rapper Blackmagic Parts Ways With Syndik8 Records

Apparently the breakup season isn’t over yet as another Nigerian artiste has walked away from his record label after both parties failed to reach a mutual agreement over recording contracts. Nigerian r
apper Efemena Mukoro better known as Blackmagic has parted ways with his record label Syndik8 Records headed by the flagship artiste Lynxxx.
Sources tell us that both parties fell out as Blackmagic (fondly called Ejay) decided to walk away from the label when C.E.O Chukie ‘Lynxxx’ Edozien offered Blackmagic a contract which stated he would be signed JUST as an artiste on the label, with no executive stake. We learn that Ejay wasn’t satisfied with the offer and wanted to be a part owner of the label.
Sources say the rapper who reportedly played an integral role in building Syndik8 Records felt he was getting the lower end of the stick. Lynxxx, according to sources familiar with the situation, disagreed with the rapper. In Lynxxx’s most recent video ‘Eziokwu’ featuring Ikechukwu, Illbliss and Phyno, usual suspect Blackmagic is missing from the Syndik8 group’s photo. Other members including in-house producer and label president IKON, dancehall act Nedu, US returnee rapper Blink and in-house DJ Obi are all present. in the Clarence Peters directed cut.
Also, Blackmagic’s new video ‘Repete‘ does not carry the usual Syndik8 Records emblem in it. The rapper some months back signed a management deal with Osagie Osarenkhoe‘s M.et.al Management and has launched his own company ‘Based of Belief‘. The rapper also made a cameo appearance in Blink’s ‘Of life‘ video.
Blackmagic, a talented rapper, singer and songwriter burst into the Nigerian music scene with his debut singles ‘Tomorrow‘ and ‘Rainbow‘ in 2010 under the Syndik8 umbrella. He released his debut album ‘Blackmagic Version 1.0‘ the following year. His style (a blend of Hip-Hop, Afrobeat and  soul) stands him out.
